What is an AI interview assistant?

Is an AI interview copilot the same as an AI interview assistant?
Yes. "Interview copilot" and "AI interview assistant" are two names for the same kind of app: it listens to your live interview and shows you what to say. ClapAssist is one, a desktop app for Mac and Windows that never joins the call.
Can interviewers detect ClapAssist?
Not on screen share: your operating system leaves the window out of screen shares and recordings, and ClapAssist never joins the call. What it cannot hide: your eyes if you read for too long, a camera pointed at your screen, and exam apps that watch your whole computer. Test it free on your own call first. Is using an AI interview assistant cheating?
It depends on the rules of that interview. Some companies forbid AI help, some allow it, many say nothing. Read the invite or ask, and if the rules say no, do not use it. ClapAssist writes from your own resume, so it helps you say your real experience clearly, not pretend to be someone else.
Why real-time instead of prepping answers beforehand?
Because interviews do not follow your prep doc. ClapAssist answers the question that was actually asked, follow-ups and curveballs included, using your real experience at the moment it matters.
How is it undetectable?
Three layers: it never joins the call (no bot in the participant list), the window is invisible to screen share and recordings, and the overlay sits at your eye line so reading looks like thinking. One honest note: ClapAssist is built for video interviews on Zoom, Meet and Teams. It is not a bypass for locked-down coding platforms like HackerRank or CoderPad, which watch focus and keystrokes.
Does ClapAssist appear in screen shares or recordings?
No. The window lives only on your screen and is excluded from capture. Tested on Mac: it is not in screen shares or recordings, has no Dock icon, is not in Cmd+Tab, and showing it or asking for an answer with the keyboard shortcuts never takes focus from your call. Use it as a private prompt: glance, absorb, and answer in your own words. ClapAssist writes spoken-ready answers to make that natural.
Does it help with coding, DSA and system design rounds?
Yes. Pick a mode in the app. Coding & DSA gives complete, runnable code in the language on your screen. System design answers in the order interviewers expect: clarify, scale, design, data, bottleneck, trade-off. There are modes for tech interviews and SQL too. Which languages does it understand?
It writes down the call in the language it is spoken: English, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese and other major languages. Nothing to set. Answers come in English by default. In Settings, Answer in lets you pick another language, Hinglish, or the same language as the question. A Translate mode shows the reply the way a native speaker would say it.
Can I practice before the real interview?

Is ClapAssist free?
Every account starts with 10 free interview minutes, full AI answers, no card required. It is a one-time starter allowance to try everything. When you have a real interview, a Sprint or a Job Hunt removes the meter entirely for its whole window.
How do the minutes actually work?
Minutes are used only while a live session is running and ClapAssist is listening. Pause the session and the meter stops. Reading past answers, editing your documents, and sitting idle cost nothing.
What is the crossed-out price?
Our standard price. The offer on the card is tied to the occasion named on it and ends on the date shown; you pay the smaller number at checkout. No timers that reset when you reload.
Does it renew?
No. You pay once. When your days end, your account simply returns to the Free plan.
Do I need my own AI account or API key?
No. ClapAssist connects to top-tier AI models through our own servers. You sign in with an email or Google account and it just works, with nothing to configure.
Is my interview audio stored?
No. Audio is processed to produce the answer and is never stored, and neither is your screen. Your resume, notes and interview transcripts are saved to your account so the app fills them in on any computer; you can switch transcripts off in Settings and delete them any time. How is ClapAssist different from Cluely?

Is there a referral program?
Yes. Every account has an invite link (Settings → Profile → Invite a friend). Your friend gets free minutes the moment they sign up through it. When they buy their first plan, you both get that same plan again, free — a Sprint for a Sprint, a Job Hunt for a Job Hunt.When they buy their first pass, you get 30 free minutes and they get 15.
