ClapAssist shows answers built from your own CV while the interview is live: HR screens, panel interviews, fresh grad interviews and technical rounds, in English or Malay, on Teams, Zoom and Google Meet.
ClapAssist is an AI interview assistant for Mac and Windows. While your video interview runs, it listens on your own laptop, picks out each question and shows a suggested answer built from your CV and the job ad, in a few seconds. It never joins the call and it stays out of your screen share.
Interviews in Malaysia often move between languages. The HR executive may start in English, the hiring manager may ask a follow-up in Malay, and a colleague on the panel may slip into Mandarin. ClapAssist understands many languages, including Malay, English, Mandarin Chinese and Tamil, and writes down the call in the language that is spoken. You choose the language of the answers in the "Answer in" setting: English, Chinese, Tamil, or "Same as the question", so a question in Malay gets an answer in Malay.
After the call, a written recap and the transcript are saved to your account, encrypted, so you can see what you said before the second round. You can switch transcript saving off in Settings and delete any of it whenever you want. The call audio and screenshots are never stored.
Reading lists of questions is not the same as saying answers out loud. A mock interview shows where your answer runs too long and where your example is thin.
ClapAssist hears whatever plays through your speakers or headset, so it works with any video interview without connecting to the platform. Some companies send a Teams link, others use Google Meet or Zoom. It works the same way on all three, whether the interviewer sits in Kuala Lumpur, Penang or Singapore.
Before a video interview, open the link once the day before, sit facing a window or a lamp, and put your laptop on a few books so the camera is at eye level.
Many Malaysian recruiters and agencies start with a short phone interview: your current role, your expected salary, your notice period and whether you can travel to the office. ClapAssist helps when that call runs on your laptop, for example a WhatsApp call on WhatsApp Desktop, or a Teams or Zoom call.
If the recruiter calls your mobile and you take the call only on the phone, the app cannot hear it. In that case, use ClapAssist beforehand to prepare your answers and keep short notes in front of you.
The hardest moment is the silence after a question you did not expect: "Why did you leave after only one year?" or "Why should we choose you over the other candidates?". ClapAssist shows a short frame built from your own projects, results and skills, so you can pick up the thread and keep going. For the last one, our guide to why should we hire you has Malaysian examples.
For software, data and engineering roles there are answer modes for coding (runnable code in the language on screen), system design, technical questions and SQL.
Your operating system keeps the ClapAssist window out of screen shares and recordings on every plan, the free one included.
For a fresh grad, the first interviews are the hardest because there is little work history to talk about. Your examples come from your final year project, your industrial training (latihan industri), part-time jobs, and clubs or volunteer work at university.
Then practise out loud. Use the mock interview to hear your own answers, fix the parts that ramble, and practise again. In the real interview, ClapAssist can point you to the right example on your CV when the question comes, so you are not searching your memory while the panel waits.
Applying for a government post through SPA? SPA's own interview guide asks candidates to bring their original documents and arrive at a set time, so plan for a face-to-face temuduga. Use ClapAssist only to prepare, and follow the SPA call letter and guidance.
