7 Best AI Interview Tools in 2026 Compared on what matters in a live call
Updated
Seven tools that help during a live video interview, side by side: whether they stay hidden from screen share on Zoom, Google Meet or Teams, what the free plan gives, what they cost and where they run. Every fact about another tool comes from its own website, with the link and the date.
How we compared
We make ClapAssist. It is listed first. Read what we say about it with that in mind; the limits are on our safety page.
The other six are in A–Z order, not ranked. We did not buy their paid plans, so we report what their own sites say, read on , with a link under each.
What we looked at: hidden from screen share and on which plans, what the free plan gives, the price and how it bills, the computers it runs on, and what it says about coding test sites.
Nobody paid to be on this page, and we earn nothing from the links. Prices change: check each tool's page before you buy. We re-check this page every month.

Not live assistants, but useful before the call: ChatGPT for drafting answers, and human mock interviews for feedback. They are not on this list because they do not help during the interview itself.
Looking for interview intelligence with AI interview summaries?
That phrase usually means a different kind of tool. The seven above are for the candidate: they help you during your own interview. Interview intelligence software is for the hiring team: it takes notes on the interviews they run and writes summaries and feedback for recruiters. Some examples, in their own words (read 17 Oct 2026, not ranked, not tested by us):
BrightHire calls itself an "interview intelligence platform", with "AI-powered notes and highlights" for hiring teams. brighthire.com
Metaview says it "handles notes, scorecards, and follow-ups automatically, so recruiters spend their hours on candidates". metaview.ai
Employ's AI Interview Companion (formerly Pillar) offers to "Automate your Interview Summaries & Feedback Collection". pillar.hr
If you are a recruiter, compare those on their own sites; this page does not cover them. If you are a candidate and want a summary of your own interview: ClapAssist saves a short written recap and the transcript of each call to your account. Transcripts can be switched off in Settings and deleted any time; live call audio and screenshots are never stored.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best AI tool for live job interviews?
We make ClapAssist, so we list it first; weigh that. It is a desktop app for Mac and Windows that stays out of Zoom, Google Meet and Teams screen shares on every plan, including Free, and answers from your own resume. If your interview runs on a coding test site such as HackerRank or CoderPad, pick a tool that says it supports those; ClapAssist is not built for them.
Which AI interview tools are free to try?
From each tool's own site on 17 October 2026: ClapAssist gives 10 minutes once, LockedIn AI free sessions of 5 minutes (up to 60 minutes a day), Parakeet AI a 10-minute free session, and Verve AI 3 sessions of 15 minutes. Cluely has a free Starter plan without its hidden mode. Interview Coder's free download has no AI, and Final Round AI's live help is on paid plans only.
Which ones stay hidden from screen share on the free plan?
ClapAssist (every plan) and Verve AI (every plan, in its desktop app). Interview Coder lists its stealth features on the free download, but the free download has no AI. Cluely, Final Round AI and LockedIn AI keep hiding to paid plans; Parakeet AI lists it on its paid plans and does not say for the free session.
Can Zoom or Google Meet show ClapAssist in a screen share?
No. When you share your screen, the call app asks the operating system for a picture of the screen, and ClapAssist asks the operating system to leave its window out of that picture. So it does not appear on a Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams share.
Which AI interview assistant stays hidden on a Zoom screen share on the free plan?
ClapAssist and Verve AI (in its desktop app) say their window stays out of a Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams screen share on every plan, including the free one. Cluely, Final Round AI and LockedIn AI keep their hidden or stealth mode to paid plans. Interview Coder lists its stealth features on its free download, but that download has no AI without a paid plan. Parakeet AI lists its full privacy mode on paid plans and does not say whether the free session has it.
What is interview intelligence software, and is it the same as an AI interview assistant?
No. Interview intelligence software is used by the hiring team: it records or takes notes on interviews and writes summaries and feedback for recruiters and interviewers. An AI interview assistant like ClapAssist is used by the candidate, on their own computer, during the call. ClapAssist also saves a short written recap and the transcript of each interview to your account; you can switch transcripts off in Settings.
