Both tools put AI answers on your screen during a live call. The difference is what you pay, what is hidden, and what is kept.

LockedIn AI plan names and prices taken from lockedinai.com on 15 September 2026, when the page showed them at 50% off for a limited time (the same prices on 1 and 3 October 2026); the other rows on 28 August 2026, with the free plan and proctoring rows re-checked on 3 October 2026. They can change; check their page before you decide. "Not mentioned" means their site does not say it, which is not the same as not having it. ClapAssist prices show in your local currency automatically.
LockedIn AI describes itself as "an AI interview assistant that listens to your interview, analyzes questions, and provides real-time answers, code solutions, and live coaching automatically" (lockedinai.com, seen 2026-10-03). It has modes for live, mock and coding interviews, professional meetings, timed online assessments and audio-only phone interviews.
You can pick the AI from six families, and its home page lists more than 50 languages. Duo lets a trusted friend join your session as a remote helper who sees your screen and hears the interview. The desktop app runs on Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 13 or newer; there is a web app, an iOS app with Android in development, and a VS Code extension.
It suits someone who wants many modes in one product, a choice of model, or a second person helping during the call.
Every price on its pricing page carried a "limited time" 50% discount, with the list price struck out at double (US view, seen 2026-10-03):
Its support page sums it up: Stealth Mode and Duo are on "every paid plan except General". Paid sessions stop at 120 minutes, or 60 for a mock, on unlimited plans too. Students, veterans, first responders and people who were laid off can get 10% off one invoice.
At ClapAssist there is no plan without hiding: Free, Practice, Sprint and Job Hunt are all left out of screen shares.
LockedIn AI is open about its limits on its support page (seen 2026-10-03). Teams in a browser "is a known gap", where the app can be visible. "The web version of LockedIn AI hides nothing at all", and there is no Stealth Mode on mobile. On the desktop, it shows a blank name and icon in Task Manager and Activity Monitor.
ClapAssist takes a different line on the last point: it shows as ClapAssist in Activity Monitor, and it warns you when a known exam app is open instead of hiding from it. The window itself is left out of screen shares by Mac and Windows. Check it on the meeting app you will use, browser or desktop, with the screen share check.
Its terms say paid subscriptions renew automatically, and that you should cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. The support page adds that cancelling is done in the web app and is not available in the desktop app. Its refund policy, last updated 17 September 2026, says no refunds once a monthly or quarterly subscription has started; an annual plan can get a partial refund if cancelled within 7 days.
On data, its privacy policy says call audio is turned into text by third-party providers such as AssemblyAI, and resumes are turned into vector embeddings. It names Google Analytics, Stripe, GitHub, AssemblyAI, Microsoft Azure OpenAI, ElevenLabs and Pinecone. No audio or video file is kept, but every session stays in Session History with a transcript, a summary and a report, and documents stay after you cancel.
ClapAssist keeps no call audio and no screenshots. It saves your resume, notes, a short written recap and the interview transcript to your account; you can switch transcripts off in Settings and delete any of it anytime.
If you used LockedIn for mock rounds, our free AI mock interview runs in the browser with no account.
No meeting bot, no notes dashboard, no clutter. Just the answer on your screen when the question lands.
Never joins the call, so there is no bot in the participant list. The window is excluded from screen share and recordings. The overlay sits at your eye line, so reading looks like thinking.
ClapAssist hears each question as it is asked and writes a spoken-ready answer from your real roles, projects and numbers. Glance, absorb, say it in your own words.
One interview? Practice. Every round of one job? Sprint. Whole job hunt? Job Hunt. Sprint and Job Hunt are unlimited inside their window, and every plan is hidden from screen share. Pay once. Nothing renews. When your days end, you are back on Free.
A comparison page you can trust has to say this part too.
LockedIn AI lets you pick from six model families, has an iOS app (Android is in development), a "Duo" mode where a second person assists you, and a lifetime licence. ClapAssist has none of those: one model, desktop only, you alone.
If what you need is to stay hidden from screen share during a Zoom, Meet or Teams interview, on the free plan and then from $39.99 for 14 days, that is exactly what ClapAssist is for.
One honest note: ClapAssist is built for video interviews. It is not a way around locked-down coding test sites like HackerRank or CoderPad, which watch focus and keystrokes. It warns you when an exam app is open instead of hiding from it. Read is ClapAssist safe for the full limits.
Hidden from screen share on every plan, including Free. Practice covers one interview; Sprint and Job Hunt are unlimited inside their window. Every plan is paid once and never renews. Prices show in your currency, and one account works on Mac and Windows.
Yes. Every ClapAssist plan, including the free 10-minute starter, keeps the window out of screen shares and recordings. LockedIn AI's support page says Stealth Mode "needs a paid plan".
No. ClapAssist sells a Sprint and a Job Hunt, unlimited inside the window. They are paid once and never renew.
No. LockedIn AI does offer that. ClapAssist runs one fast model we choose, so you never think about it.
Its support page says cancelling is done in the web app, not the desktop app, and its terms ask you to cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends (seen 2026-10-03). Monthly and quarterly plans are not refunded once started. ClapAssist plans are paid once and never renew, so there is nothing to cancel.
Yes: unlimited 5-minute sessions, up to 60 free minutes a day, with a short pause between them. Stealth Mode, which hides the app during screen sharing, needs a paid plan (seen 2026-10-03). ClapAssist gives 10 free minutes once, and the window is hidden from screen share during them.
English by default, whatever language is spoken on the call. In Settings, Answer in lets you pick another language, Hinglish, or the same language as the question.
No. LockedIn AI is a trademark of its owner. Their plan details on this page were taken from lockedinai.com and docs.lockedinai.com (prices on 15 September 2026) and may change.
