Parakeet AI alternative: 14 days for ₹999, not ₹2,360 an hour

Parakeet AI calls itself a "Real-Time AI Call Assistant" for interviews, sales calls, client meetings "or any conversation" (parakeet-ai.com, seen 2026-10-03). It reads code shared on your screen, runs mock interviews with the first one free, and adds a question bank, resume maker, headshots, AI notes and phone calls over Google Voice. It lists more than 50 languages and models from Gemini, GPT and Claude.

The desktop app runs on Windows and macOS. In a browser it needs desktop Chrome. Its FAQ says a native phone app "is on its way" and is not available yet, so phones use the mobile web. The company behind it is ParakeetAI d.o.o., in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

It suits someone who also has sales or client calls, or who wants interview hours that never expire.

Its pricing, seen from India on 2026-10-03, sells time in credits. Half a credit buys a 30-minute session, and a session extends by 30 minutes at a time for another half credit:

• Free: 10 sessions of up to 10 minutes each, a new one every 12 minutes, plus one free mock interview.
• One credit: ₹2,360, which is one hour.
• Packs: 3 credits for ₹3,690; 6 plus 2 free for ₹7,380; 9 plus 6 free, 15 credits, for ₹11,070, or ₹738 a credit.
• Unlimited: ₹4,980 a week, ₹9,470 a month or ₹37,900 a year.
• Custom: the resume maker, headshots and question bank at ₹1,450 a month each; calls stay on credits.

Credits never expire. Its FAQ explains that UPI cannot carry an auto-renewing charge this large, so the yearly plan can also be paid once by UPI. In rupees, even at the cheapest pack price of ₹738, one Parakeet hour costs more than ClapAssist Practice, which gives you 120 minutes, and a ClapAssist Sprint covers 14 unlimited days.

Its FAQ says the app is hidden from screen sharing while Private is on, which is the default. In Zoom you also need to turn on "Advanced capture with window filtering", and the web version cannot hide itself (seen 2026-10-03). Full privacy mode is listed on the paid credit and unlimited plans.

On exams its pages pull two ways. The FAQ says "It also works during online exams", while its terms ban use where AI help is prohibited, and it offers employers a way to ask to be blocked. Its FAQ gives a 7-day refund window for accidental or unused purchases. Once any paid use happens, the purchase is no longer eligible, there are no partial refunds for remaining credits, and it is one refund per person. Its terms say "lifetime" means the lifetime of the plan, not of the customer.

Its privacy policy, updated 30 September 2026, sends call audio to Speechmatics, and the transcript, resume and notes to OpenAI, Google, Anthropic or Cerebras. Documents are indexed in Pinecone. Data is kept for as long as you have an account, and transcripts you choose to save can feed its question bank, which you can opt out of. 1. Keep any credits you have; they never expire, so you can come back to them. If you are on a weekly, monthly or yearly plan, cancel it before it renews.
