What's new in ClapAssist Every app update, newest first

The app updates itself

ClapAssist checks for updates on its own. When one is ready, click Restart & install.

To check by hand, open Settings → General → Updates and click Check for updates. You can also download the newest version and install it over the old one.

Version 1.9.2: Scroll behind

• Scroll behind: your mouse works on the app behind the bar. Click Stop on the banner, or press the key again, to go back.
• While Scroll behind is on, the banner and open menus still take your clicks.
• Screenshots no longer show as pictures in the chat, unless you turn them on.
• Long chats stay smooth. The bar no longer slows down as answers pile up.

Version 1.9.1: Plain words

• Simpler, shorter words on every screen, button and message.
• The transcript keeps filling for the whole interview, every 30 seconds.
• Cancel renewal is back in the Plans tab.

Version 1.9.0: Faster, more human answers

• Answers start sooner. Screen pictures are smaller, and only what changed since your last answer is sent.
• No blink. The bar stays on screen while it reads your screen.
• Answers sound like a person talking: one or two short lines to say, then the key points.
• New colours: the question in blue, the line to say in green.

Version 1.8.0: It reads the screens you scrolled past

• While you listen, it keeps your last five different screens, like a scroll or a new tab. Enter answers from all of them.
• If your screen cannot be read, the bar says so and why.
• Listen stops after 20 minutes of silence, not 10, with a Resume button.
• If the call sound drops, it reconnects and tells you.

Version 1.7.0: Code, not steps

• A coding question gets full, working code first, in the language on your screen. Then the approach and how fast it runs.
• Long problem pages: press Cmd+Shift+Enter (Ctrl+Shift+Enter on Windows) on each part as you scroll. Enter answers the whole page.

Version 1.6.1: Transcript

• New Transcript button next to History. Read what was said, a minute at a time.
• Copy it, or press Update now to add the last few seconds.
• Saved on your computer, never stored on our servers.

Version 1.6.0: It remembers the whole interview

• Every answer knows the whole interview so far, not just the last 45 seconds.
• Pressed Stop? Enter still answers what was just said.
• Closed the app mid-call? Open it again within 30 minutes and carry on. Saved on your computer, never stored on our servers.
• Windows: Ctrl+Alt+A opens ClapAssist, even when it is closed.
• Forgot your password? You now get a 6-digit code by email.

Versions 1.5.0 – 1.5.1: New plans, cancel in the app

• New plans: Free, Practice, Sprint and Job Hunt. Each card shows the offer price next to the full price.
• See when your plan renews, and cancel renewal in the app. You keep every day you paid for.
• Give days of your plan to a friend.
• A new invite card: invite a friend and earn free time when they buy.

Versions 1.4.22 – 1.4.25: Security fixes

• Security fixes in the Mac and Windows app.
• Your recaps stay when you sign out.
• Mac: the screen permission question comes during setup, not in the middle of your interview.
• The Round Card lists a reworded question only once.
• Setup now counts which steps people finish, so we can fix the hard ones. Our privacy policy lists it.

Versions 1.4.18 – 1.4.21: Answers you can say out loud

• Answers are built to be said: one short line to say first, then a few bold words to talk around.
• Answers use the one most relevant thing from your resume.
• After a session, send a friend free minutes on WhatsApp. It waits until you are out of meetings, and nothing is posted anywhere.
• Round Card: a picture of your round to copy, save or send.
• Windows: updates download again after Check for updates.

Versions 1.4.15 – 1.4.17: Sign in with Apple

• Sign in with Apple.
• Invite a friend from Settings with your own link. A friend can enter your code when they sign up.
• Delete your account from Settings. It asks for your password or an emailed code first.
• The plans page says which cards work best.

Versions 1.4.12 – 1.4.14: A simpler bar

• A simpler bar: Settings, Screen, Hidden, Keys, Listen, More and History.
• No Dock, menu bar or taskbar icon once setup is done. Open it again from Spotlight or Start.
• Screen off now means off. Answers use only the call and what you type.
• PDF resume upload fixed, and each document can be longer.
• Answers lead with the answer and put the key words in bold.

Versions 1.4.9 – 1.4.11: Answers on their own

• It answers on its own when the interviewer stops talking. On by default, and you can turn it off.
• Your screen is attached to typed questions by default.
• History fills itself. Each conversation is saved on your computer as you go.
• Sign up asks for the 6-digit code from your email. You can show or hide your password.
• Windows lists ClapAssist as the publisher.

Versions 1.4.1 – 1.4.8: Screen and call in one answer

• Enter while listening answers from your screen and the call together. A coding task on screen gets code, a spoken question gets a spoken answer.
• Listen starts quickly, and both your mic and the call are heard.
• Works with headphones or speakers, and follows you when you switch.
• Settings → Modes is back, with your resume, job description and notes. Plus a Test microphone button.
• Fixed: answers that stayed hidden, and being signed out for no reason.

Versions 1.3.0 – 1.4.0: Hears the call directly

• Mac: hears the call directly, with no extra audio app (macOS 14.2 or later).
• A key for every action, and a Keys button on the bar that lists them all.
• You stay signed in when macOS asks you to quit and reopen after a permission.
• Windows: a one-screen installer and no permission page. You can still pick the folder.
• Smaller downloads: separate builds for Apple silicon, Intel Macs and Windows on ARM.

Versions 1.1.2 – 1.2.1: Signed by Apple

• The Mac app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens with no warning.
• One-click updates on Mac.
• New icon: the waving hand.

Versions 1.1.0 – 1.1.1: A new look

• A small bar at the top of your screen that grows into the answer.
• A separate Settings window.
• A setup guide for permissions and keys, with a live demo of the bar.
• History: your past sessions, by day.

Versions 1.0.5 – 1.0.13: Recaps, and Windows fixes

• Windows: the window is fully hidden from screen share again.
• Windows: install on another drive, like D:.
• The Copy button copies.
• Listen stops by itself after 10 minutes of silence, so your minutes are not wasted.
• Recaps: after a call, get a short summary of what they asked and what to work on. Saved on your computer, never stored on our servers.

Version 1.0.4: Small fixes

• The default answer style shows in the style menu.
• The guide that comes with the installer matches the app.
