What does Reddit say about LockedIn AI?

Mixed, and loud on both sides. In the 15 Reddit threads we opened and read on 18 October 2026, the most common complaints were being charged on renewal and not getting a refund, slow or wrong answers after an app update, and a time limit on each session. The praise was about faster answers than one rival and feedback on pacing during practice. People who said they hire, in the bigger threads, said they could tell when a candidate was reading answers.

These are posts by strangers. We could not check who wrote them, whether they used the product, or whether they work for LockedIn or a rival. Treat every line below as one person's story, not a fact. Where Reddit makes a claim LockedIn's own pages answer, we put the two side by side with the date we read them.

ClapAssist, which publishes this page, makes a competing AI interview assistant. It appears in one short section near the end.

Key takeaways

  • Most common Reddit complaints: renewal charges with no refund, weaker answers after an update, and a time limit per session.
  • Most common praise: faster answers than one rival and useful pacing feedback in practice.
  • LockedIn's plans show a lower first payment, then a higher regular price (General: $43.99, then $109.98 a month, US view).
  • Its refund policy says monthly and 3-month plans are non-refundable once started.
  • Some threads look promotional: many replies within an hour, all naming the same rival. Weigh them lightly.

Most common complaint

Billing, renewals and refunds

What Reddit users said (anecdotal, not verified)

  • Charged on renewal. One user wrote that they forgot to cancel, the payment went through, and they cancelled at once and asked for a refund (r/LockedInAI_Official, 18 Aug 2026). A LockedIn staff reply explained how to cancel and then pointed them to support@lockedinai.com. Weeks later another user in the same thread said they had also forgotten to cancel and that the team told them a refund was not possible.
  • Refused refund after a failure. A user wrote that the tool did not work as advertised, and that after emails and a call the company repeated its refund policy and offered free credits instead (r/recruitinghell, 25 Feb 2025).

What LockedIn's own pages say (read 18 October 2026)

  • Monthly and 3-month plans: its refund policy (last updated 14 October 2026) says: "Non-refundable once started." Cancelling keeps access to the end of the period you paid for.
  • Charged after you cancelled: a refund "may be considered" if you contact support within 7 days and show the cancellation confirmation email. Duplicate charges and paid-but-no-access are also listed.
  • Annual plans: "Eligible for a partial refund if canceled within 7 days of purchase." The pricing page we read showed no yearly plan to buy.
  • Lifetime: a full refund within 7 days only if you have not started a session.
  • Renewal: its help pages say "Subscriptions auto-renew". Cancelling is done in the web app at app.lockedinai.com, not in the desktop app. Plans bought in the iPhone app are refunded by Apple, under Apple's rules.
  • First payment vs regular price: every paid plan showed a lower first payment and a higher price after it. For the General plan in the US view: "$43.99 USD/Month is your first payment only. After that you pay the regular price, $109.98 USD/Month, billed every month." The same page from an India connection showed ₹3904.00 for the first month, then ₹9760.00 a month.
  • The pricing page also shows the words "Money-back guarantee" near the plan tabs. The refund policy does not offer that for monthly or 3-month plans. If it matters to you, ask support in writing before you pay.

What this means for you: the second charge is the one people say they did not expect. If you only need it for a few weeks, note the renewal date the day you pay and cancel in the web app before it.

Does it work?

Does LockedIn AI work in a live interview?

What Reddit users said (anecdotal, not verified)

  • After an update, worse answers. One user said the new version reacted slowly, gave answers that were not relevant and did not use the files they had uploaded (r/LockedInAI_Official, 28 Aug 2026). Another user agreed it could not read their resume. A third said the product itself was fine but complained that weekly updates keep changing how it looks.
  • App froze. A Mac user said the laptop froze in a Microsoft Teams interview and worked again only after they closed LockedIn (r/LockedIn_AI, 17 Aug 2026). Nobody had replied when we read it.
  • No answers showing. A new user saw the question written out on screen but no answer (r/LockedInAI_Official, 8 Oct 2026). LockedIn support replied that answers should appear and asked them to check that the session was active and the settings correct.
  • Time limit per session. A user said the helper stopped 85 minutes into a long system design round (r/LockedIn_AI, 12 May 2026). Another reply in the thread said that you can start a new session after the limit. Read the note on this thread under Reading these threads with care.

What LockedIn's own pages say (read 18 October 2026)

  • Session length: its help pages say a paid session is ended after 120 minutes (60 minutes for a mock interview), with about 30 seconds of grace, and that starting a new session resets the clock. Free sessions end after 5 minutes. The Reddit thread from May said 1.5 hours; the limit we read today is longer.
  • Hidden on screen share: Stealth Mode is on every paid plan except General, per its help pages. We did not test it.

What this means for you: if your rounds can run long, plan for a restart. And test the app on the same computer and the same call app you will interview on, a few days before, not on the morning of the interview.

The other side

What people liked about LockedIn AI

Anecdotal and not verified, like everything from Reddit on this page.

  • Faster than one rival, with coaching. A user who tried both LockedIn AI and Sensei AI wrote that LockedIn felt like "a full package", seemed faster with less lag, and liked the coach that flags things like talking too fast (r/Employment, 14 Sep 2025). They asked others whether it had actually helped anyone land a job.
  • Better pacing in practice. Two replies in the same thread said LockedIn helped them slow down and give more structured answers while practicing. One said it "didn't magically land me a job" but made interviews less stressful; the other said they did not rely on it in real interviews.
  • Multilingual help. In the session-limit thread, a user who does interviews from Tokyo said they never hit the limit on 45 to 50 minute screens and found the multilingual answers solid (r/LockedIn_AI, 12 May 2026).
  • The strongest negative in the same thread: one person called it an "unfinished product" and said to stay away.
The view from the other side of the call

What interviewers on Reddit said about live AI help

The two biggest threads we read were about live AI interview tools in general, not LockedIn alone (r/jobsearchhacks, 15 Aug 2025; r/jobsearchhacks, 13 Jan 2026). Several people who said they interview candidates replied. Their points, which we could not verify:

  • The most upvoted reply described a candidate who answered "First… Second… Third…" as if reading from a list; the team concluded he was using a tool and did not pick him.
  • Others said the giveaways are a delay before each answer, eyes moving across the screen, and a flat voice that turns back to normal on small talk.
  • Some said they ask follow-up questions or unusual questions on purpose to see if the candidate can go deeper.
  • On the other side, one commenter said they cleared big-company interviews with AI help, and another, who has ADHD and anxiety, said a tool helped them, though they reword its answers.

In the LockedIn-specific thread about being detected (r/LockedIn_AI, 14 Mar 2026), the replies we could read did not answer the technical question; they warned that recruiters judge behavior, not software. In an older thread (r/interviews, 18 Jun 2024), replies told a new graduate facing a senior-level interview to study instead.

Our note: some employers do not allow AI help in interviews, and many online tests forbid it. Read the invitation, and ask if it is not clear.

Reading Reddit with care

Reading these threads with care

AI interview tools are a crowded market, and Reddit is full of posts that sell. One reply we read put it this way: "The AI Cheat marketplace on Reddit has become a war of the AI bots." (r/InterviewCoderHQ, 18 May 2026). Things we noticed while reading, so you can spot them too:

  • Replies that arrive all at once and name the same rival. In the session-limit thread (r/LockedIn_AI, 12 May 2026), 17 of the 18 replies we could read were posted within an hour of the post, and 8 of them named the same competing tool. In the thread about paying for three tools (r/InterviewsHell, 26 Mar 2026), many replies posted the same day named one rival too. That does not prove anything, but it is a reason to weigh those threads lightly.
  • The same account praising in several places. The account that posted the LockedIn vs Sensei comparison also praised LockedIn in another subreddit the same day. In that comparison thread, a reply accused a different praising commenter of working for LockedIn. We could not check either.
  • Where the thread lives. A complaint about LockedIn's testimonials was posted in a subreddit named after a rival product (r/InterviewCoderHQ, 18 May 2026). Support replies in r/LockedInAI_Official come from LockedIn staff.
  • Ads in your feed. One user said their Instagram filled with LockedIn videos after they searched for it (r/cscareerquestions, 16 Apr 2026). Being shown many ads says nothing about whether a product works.
  • Resold access. Someone offered to sell LockedIn access for interviews (r/iitbombay, 23 Apr 2026). A shared or resold account can be shut off, and you have no refund path.

Practical checks

How to check any AI interview tool before you pay

These are our suggestions, drawn from the complaints above. They apply to LockedIn AI and to every rival, ours included.

  1. Find the second price. Many plans show a low first payment. Look for the words "first payment only", "then" or "billed every". Work out what you would pay if you forgot to cancel once.
  2. Read the refund page, and its date. Look for the plan you are about to buy by name. "Non-refundable once started" means the first session ends your chance of a refund.
  3. Know where you cancel. Some tools let you cancel only on the website, not in the app. Put the renewal date in your calendar the day you pay.
  4. Test the free version on your own setup. Same computer, same call app (Zoom, Teams or Meet), same headphones. Play a mock interview video and check that questions and answers show up.
  5. Check the time limit against your longest round. A limit per session matters for panel or system design rounds that run past an hour.
  6. Check what is hidden on which plan. On some tools the cheapest plan is not hidden from screen share. Test it with a screen share before the real call.
  7. Read the privacy policy. Look for what is kept (audio, transcripts, resume), for how long, and whether you can delete it.
  8. Read Reddit with the checks above. Look at when replies were posted, whether they all name the same rival, and whether the subreddit belongs to a vendor.
  9. Check the employer's rules. If the invitation says no outside help, no tool is worth the risk.

Practice costs less than live help. Free options include our AI mock interview in the browser, with no account.

Our product, briefly

Where ClapAssist fits

ClapAssist is a desktop AI interview assistant for Mac and Windows. It listens to the video interview on your computer and shows an answer written from your resume. It is hidden from screen share on every plan, including the free 10 minutes, and every plan is paid once and never renews: Practice $14.99 for 120 minutes, Sprint $39.99 for 14 days unlimited, Job Hunt $119.99 for 30 days unlimited. Live call audio and screenshots are never stored; your resume, notes, the written recap and the interview transcript are saved to your account (transcripts can be switched off in Settings and deleted).

What it does not have, compared with LockedIn AI: no phone app, no human helper, no question bank or practice debriefs inside the app, and it is not built for locked-down coding test sites. Some employers do not allow AI help in interviews, so check first. Test it yourself with the screen share check and read what it can and cannot hide.

Questions

Questions about LockedIn AI on Reddit

Is LockedIn AI legit, according to Reddit?

It is a real product with a paid plan, a free plan and support staff who answer on Reddit. The Reddit threads we read on 18 October 2026 were mixed: complaints about renewal charges, refunds, a time limit per session and answer quality after an update, and praise for speed and practice feedback. None of it is verified.

Does LockedIn AI give refunds?

Its refund policy, last updated 14 October 2026, says monthly and 3-month subscriptions are non-refundable once started. It may consider a refund for duplicate charges, no access after payment, or a charge after you cancelled, if you contact support within 7 days. Lifetime plans can be refunded within 7 days only if no session was started.

Why did LockedIn AI charge me more the second month?

Each paid plan shows a lower first payment and a higher regular price after it. On 18 October 2026 the General plan was $43.99 for the first month, then $109.98 a month in the US view. Subscriptions renew until you cancel in the web app.

Does LockedIn AI have a free plan?

Yes. Its help pages describe unlimited 5-minute sessions, up to 60 free minutes a day, with a 1-minute pause between sessions. A free session ends after 5 minutes, so a full interview needs restarts.

Is there a time limit on LockedIn AI sessions?

Yes. Its help pages, read on 18 October 2026, say a paid session ends after 120 minutes (60 for a mock interview) and a new session resets the clock. A Reddit thread from May 2026 described a 1.5-hour limit, so the limit has changed since then.

Can interviewers tell if you use LockedIn AI?

People on Reddit who said they interview candidates described reading pauses, eyes moving across the screen and a flat voice as giveaways. That is their opinion, not a test. Some employers do not allow AI help, so check the rules first.

Are LockedIn AI reviews on Reddit trustworthy?

Read them with care. In some threads most replies came within an hour and named the same rival tool, one subreddit is run by LockedIn staff, and one complaint was posted in a subreddit named after a competitor. Look at dates, accounts and patterns, not just the words.
